Day 10

Phu Quoc, what a BEAUTIFUL island!! I love it here, and could stay here the entire time, its a little piece of paradise. Our resort is small but really cute, there is no t.v and they are all about using the natural elements around you.. very Eco-friendly. I love the emerald colored water, and the white sand beach! As you can tell I'm a beach junky :)

So today my whole family went to enjoy our very YUMMY complimentary breakfast, I had 2 eggs with bacon and a huge french style crepe with fresh banana's with honey. My Vietnamese family ate the Pho which is typical for breakfast in Vietnam and they made yummy fresh squeezed juice, you could have mango or banana. The plan for today was to hang out on the beach all day, my favorite thing! I however was a little scared as I have NEVER been so white in my entire life! I decided last year in the fall to stop tanning and to start spray tanning instead and so I've been doing it for awhile and LOVE it except you cannot tell how pale your skin really is. I'm not sure if it was the humidity or the dry airplane air, but as soon as we got to Vietnam my spray tan started cracking and coming off, which quickly exposed my pale white skin. I was totally unaware of how white I was!!!!!!!!

Anyhow we stayed on the beach all day and had fun relaxing and swimming, we even met this little boy who was 5 years old who wandered around the beach all day being a show-boat. He was adorable and was grabbing me to take him swimming, he splashed around in the water with us, at one point he disappeared and came back with flowers for everyone on the beach, he went around and handed them out to everyone... so cute! I started becoming very curious about where his parents where but I keep forgetting that in this country kids are left alone to fend for themselves A LOT. Its just their thing I guess, no one is ever really too worried about their little ones running around by themselves... so strange to me. I've noticed that all the kids here no matter what age are very self sufficient.

I started noticing my white skin getting pink so around 4 o'clock we called it a day and headed in to take showers and get ready for our Indian head massages and foot treatments we booked earlier in the day. It wasn't to soon after getting out of the shower that I realized how burnt I was, OUCH! Pure misery but I can deal with it just means I won't be hanging out in the sun tomorrow :( Our spa day was AMAZING and so freaking cheap... so of course I booked Geordy a full body massage and me a facial the next day! I just had to take advantage of the cheap spa services. So that night we all went to the night market to take advantage of the local seafood merchants for dinner. I cannot explain how yummy and fresh the food is, and it takes forever for you to figure out what you want because there are SOOOOOO many choices! From snails, to clams, several kinds of fish, whole or sliced, shrimp, squid, grilled BBQ pork or chicken, the smells were so overwhelmingly good. I loved how everyone has there own restaurant set up and like any market are asking you to eat at their place and each place has their own grill fired up!

After our very good dinner, we decided to walk back instead of taking a taxi so we could walk into some of the local boutiques and work off some of the food we just consumed :) I was sad we couldn't stay one more day because I really wanted to go on a all day snorkeling trip! I think we planned poorly on that part but I just didn't realize that you had to be gone all day for that excursion otherwise we would have planned on staying one more day. So we headed back to the resort to end the evening.
