Today we drove a little over two hours to the city of Can Tho which is the 2nd largest city to Saigon and in the Mekong Delta. One thing that is bad about this country is getting around can be a big pain the butt, the roads are terrible and there are no street laws, so it makes getting around very hard. In the states the drive to Can Tho from where we are at would have taken just over an hour but the driving conditions are so bad it takes twice as long. You are basically driving on a street that is just like what you see if you were driving on backroads in Claremore, except for they are used EVERYWHERE you go, and you are sharing it with TONS of people!
Anyhow back to the city of Can Tho... So once we arrived we immediately rented a boat to take a tour on the Mekong river and visit some of the sites. The living conditions along the river are crazy, I couldn't believe people can live like this, the houses are basically shacks on stilts and they do everything from laundry, bath, and run a business on the river. Some of the houses even have tarps as a roof, its kinda like they are living the exact life that you see on the tv show survivor. Can Tho is also famous for their floating market, however when we went by we only got to see a small bit of what was left because the market is usually shut down by the late afternoon, which is when we were there :( I'm lucky enough that I have actually been to a really great one in Thailand so I wasn't missing much. The tour lasted about 4 hours and when we were done we stopped a local restaurant to eat Banh Xeo... YUMMO!
We headed back to my aunts house around 8 o'clock as soon as we got home I went to bed because I was so exhausted.
